Practical strategies for supporting regulation, resilience, and the developing brain
Children build emotional wellbeing through everyday interactions with the adults and environments around them. This practical session supports educators and practitioners to use ordinary moments – such as connection, routines, play, and everyday language – as powerful opportunities to support emotional safety, regulation, and resilience.
Rather than adding more programs to an already busy day, the session focuses on small, intentional changes in environments, routines, and interactions that can make a meaningful difference to children’s emotional regulation, connection, and window of tolerance for distress.
Informed by Dr Louise Mansell’s training and experience, this session draws upon attachment theory and neuroscience, including Theraplay principles (Phyllis Booth), PACE (Dan Hughes, 2012), and the work of Tina Bryson and Daniel Siegel. Educators will explore how these principles translate into real-life practice.
In this session, educators and professionals supporting children will explore:
- How the developing brain and nervous system shape children’s capacity for emotional regulation and understanding
- How everyday language and adult responses influence children’s ability to calm, engage, and learn
- How simple tweaks to environments and routines can support emotional safety and strengthen relationships
- Practical, everyday strategies and playful activities that build connection, regulation, and healthy emotional development
The session builds attendee confidence by explaining the science behind what works in a clear and accessible way – helping educators understand not just what to do, but why it supports children’s wellbeing, brain development, and nervous system regulation. You will leave with practical tools you can apply immediately, and strategies that fit naturally into daily routines.

Meet Teddy
This Teddy is more than just a teddy bear, Its a multi-sensory comforting companion with a voice box that guides children through a range of tried and tested activities to help children navigate emotions.
With features like fidget-friendly paws, a lightly weighted body and sensory tags, Teddy offers a multi-sensory experience that supports emotional well-being and resilience
“This is a truly wonderful product. The bear was treated like a VIP from the moment we brought it home. The impact was profound: my boys were talking about emotions more freely in such a short space of time, naming feelings, talking about times they were brave, and even creating their own emotional combinations. The parent instructions and guidance will be a welcome addition. ”
— Sally
Speech & Language Therapist
“It helped my daughter calm herself down independently, instead of needing us to help her, which she felt proud of having done. As well as using it as a definite comfort item, especially at night. The bear was involved in games, play, and even went on a bike ride.”
— Shannon
Mum of Three
“Our children loved the having the bear to sleep over. We had to take it everywhere with us, from setting up the morning picnic to bedtime, the bear was there.”

“My two boys, 13 and 11 years old. Absolutely love teddy’s Deck of Emotions.
The fun, relatable cards have made it so much easier for them to recognise and express their feelings and emotions. I would highly recommend to all parents.”
